13 Jun 2017: The Saudi led movement to cut political ties and isolate Qatar in international community was aimed at domination and control, says Senior Counter-terrorism Adviser Mutlaq Al-Qahtani.
Mutlaq al-Qahtani, a special envoy to Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said the decision to sever ties by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt – as well as other allies – over Qatar’s alleged funding of armed groups would not prove successful. This suggests Qatar is not willing to be dominated by Saudi Arabia like it does to other allies.
Following the incident many countries are urging to settle the rift through diaque.
The office of French President Emmanuel Macron said the presidet called Emir of Qatar, Turkish President, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Saudi King in an effort to reconcile tentions. Meanwhile, Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television refered to a government official and said UAE wants to change Qatari policies, not its regime.
Among the international political figures working on settling the differences is Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah who has flown to Abu Dhabi to continue. Kuwait was one of the first countries to back Qatar on the matter.
Turkish President Erdogan quoted the verse of holly Quran “The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers” when speaking about the Qatar crisis.
“Whatever duty befalls us, we will continue to provide our support on the path of justice. But, I must also say this. Don’t be cruel to the oppressed, or you will be punished slowly. Qatar is a small country. You can’t say if you do this, then we will do this. It doesn’t work like that. A verse from the Quran says very clearly – how many a small company has overcome a large company by the permission of Allah. We will continue on this path by sourcing our strength from this. We should not allow new pains to be felt or for the people of the region to feel a heavy burden. As Turkey, we stand for the stability, security, harmony and peace of our region. We have struggled to solve the issues between our brothers, and unite them with mutual benefits without making distinctions. Today, we are acting with the same aim because we are a people who have committed themselves to this divine aim. And what is the aim? What does God say in Hujurat Surah (Quran)? The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. This shows us how we must act in such a situation. We are engaging in intense diplomatic discussions in order to resolve the Qatar crisis and unite our brothers at a common point. I have spoken with over 13 leaders. Our foreign ministers, bureaucrats, and colleagues have engaged in discussions with the relevant people. By the will of God, I believe we will see the fruits of these efforts very soon. The way to eradicate terrorist organisations is through alliances not disputes, and that’s what hurts us the most and what harms Muslims the most. Our prophet said – there is mercy in unity and punishment in division. We must heed these words of advice during these holly days that we are passing through.” said the president.
